Mr. Huebner, born in Switzerland, has studied Political Science at the University of Leipzig in Germany and at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. Interested in Asian affairs, he also learned Japanese at the Kyoto Centre for Japanese Linguistic Studies in Japan. His education is complemented by an adult teaching certificate from the International House organization and a project management training with a cross-cultural focus. Work experience: After receiving his degree, Mr. Huebner worked as trainee at the United Nations University headquarters in Tokyo, a global top-ten think tank, where he planned and implemented international conferences and outreach projects. He also participated in the establishment of a new research direction on sustainability in decision-making.
Having returned to Germany, he became Project Coordinator at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin and was appointed as director of the East Asia Programme soon after. During this time, Mr. Huebner conceptualized and implemented young leader’s seminars on East Asian issues and built partnerships with Asian companies, trade associations, embassies and the German Asia-Pacific Business Circle.
In 2010 he moved to China to take up a lectureship at the Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, a Chinese-German model university of applied sciences, where he teaches Intercultural Management, business etiquette and German in a joint program with three German partner universities. He is a member of the German Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and a local lecturer of the German Academic Exchange Service. Since 2010 he has been German course lecturer and cross cultural trainer of SinaLingua Shanghai.
